The Holy Grail of sprinkle cakes. The Queen of all things funfetti. The creme de la creme of birthday cakes. I call it: Death by Sprinkles Cake.
Not only is the cake itself packed with sprinkles, but it’s also covered from head to toe in more sprinkles bringing the grand total to 1 whole pound of sprinkles packed into one (not-so) little cake!
I first made this cake for a celebratory night out for a coworker’s last night with us before she moved out of town. Since then, I’ve had about 6 requests to make it, the most recent being my dad for his 50th birthday celebration.
Now this man loves just about any flavors you can think up. I usually go with pineapple upside down or something caramel and coconutty as those are generally his favorites. However, I’m sure he’d eat a wasabi and sriracha cake if I created it so needless to say I was surprised when he repeatedly told me that this was the cake he wanted for the big 5-0.
Once he said “this is the most birthday cake birthday cake I’ve ever seen,” I guess it all made sense. The big guy loved the cake, and I had just as fun making it. Lesson learned: you’re never too old for a sprinkle cake.
My number one tip if you’re a sprinkle lover is to purchase your sprinkles in bulk. It’ll save you money in the long run, plus you can never have enough sprinkles! Also, invest in one of these super fun cake toppers. You can find similar ones here.
